Why did you become an Enterprise Adviser?

I’m currently working on the HS2 project which is the biggest infrastructure project in Europe. My team want to create lasting positive impact on local communities and a huge part of this is engaging with schools near our main sites to better promote the construction industry, promote our job opportunities and support school curriculum and student career paths.

What do you enjoy most or are you most looking forward to in your role as an Enterprise Adviser?

I’m going to enjoy getting to know a particular school well and working together on their career strategy. I believe my company could provide a lot of support and it will be very fulfilling to see long term progress when it comes to career opportunities for students.

Overview of your chosen career or career pathway to your current role.

Since joining Balfour Beatty VINCI five years ago I have had several different roles e.g., PA, Receptionist and Office Manager. Underlying all of those roles I always incorporated EDI into my responsibilities e.g., inclusive recruiting, volunteering time to organise awareness events, attending training etc. Through this work I was asked three months ago if I would consider applying for a Senior Delivery role in Skills Education and Employment (SEE) team. I jumped at the chance and since then I have been proactively trying to build out employer engagement between schools and our business.
