Andy Cole MBE - A (Three Minute) Hero
Published on Wednesday, 23 August 2017
Andy Cole MBE, Centre Manager for Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull, has taken time out of his day to share his experience of 20 years in senior management and the things that have helped him along the way. The aim of the video is to inspire local students and encourage them to think about their career and learning choices.
Andy, a dedicated member of the Solihull Employment and Skills Board and an Enterprise Adviser at Lode Heath School, is committed to supporting the borough’s young people in developing their employability skills. He works closely with Gareth Davies, Assistant Headteacher, on Lode Heath’s careers programme, ensuring its embedded across the curriculum and has provided excellent work experience opportunities (you can read more about that here).
In the Three Minute Hero video, Andy talks about juggling day-to-day priorities of managing a shopping centre and the challenges that come with that. He reflects on his part-time working, throughout his undergraduate studies; how it helped him to develop transferable skills, such as customer service; which have assisted in his career progression.
