Careers Leader Research

Published on Friday, 12 July 2019

In 2017, the Careers Strategy set an ambitious goal for every school in England to appoint a named Careers Leader with ‘the energy, commitment and backing from senior leadership’ to deliver a comprehensive careers programme. This new report points to the successful establishment of a cohort of positive, engaged and effective senior Careers Leaders.

It reveals they are overwhelmingly positive about the approach to careers education currently underway and the outcomes for young people, with 88% saying their role is having a positive impact on young peoples’ outcomes, 75% saying careers provision has improved over the last 18 months and 94% saying the Gatsby Benchmarks have helped improve careers guidance.
