The below toolkit is available for school's to download to help you on your ‘Life Ready’ journey:

Life Ready Audit tool for Primary

The Life Ready Audit tool is currently being updated to ensure it supports aspects of the Ofsted Framework.  We will upload it as soon as it is available.  The tool helps schools to capture their current life ready/careers activity and identify gaps; importantly it gathers baseline employer engagement data. It includes a detailed breakdown of how embedding Life Ready supports aspects of the Ofsted Leadership Framework.

Life Ready Primary Audit Tool

Sample Primary Careers and Enterprise Plan

A sample Primary Career Action plan which can be developed following the completion of the Life Ready Audit tool. The plan should cover activity across year groups, sectors and curriculum areas. It should be clear on how it meets the aspirations of learners and how it will be resourced. It is recommended that the Life Ready plan feeds into the school improvement plan; and is published on the school website.  Take a look at some examples from other primary schools to help develop the careers area on your own school website:

Skills for Success Matrix

The Skills for Success Matrix is based on two CBI (Confederation of British Industry) reports 'First Steps: A New Approach for our Schools' and 'Time Well Spent' and identifies the behaviours, competencies and attitudes valued by employers. 

Skills Builder Universal Framework

The Skills Builder Universal Framework is based on eight essential skills for life which is being used by over 500 schools.  It is recognised as best practice for developing 'Life Ready' skills.

Pupil Self-Assessment Forms

The pupil self-assessment form is for pupils to self reflect following a careers activity or employer encounter. Pupil's should be encouraged to record and evidence the employability Skills for Success they have developed and demonstrated.

Activity Agreement between school and employer

This agreement can help schools and employers to better plan the career or enterprise activity being delivered.  It sets out expectations of both the school and the employer.

Activity De-brief School

A short form for the teacher to complete following an employer activity, to reflect on impact and learning and to help inform future activities.

A short form for the employer to complete following delivery of an activity in school, to reflect on the success and identify opportunities for improvement.

Life Ready Logo

A JPEG of the Life Ready logo that can be used on documentation such as; school letters/emails, lesson presentations, employer presentations.
