All though the traineeship will be based at Birmingham international, you will be required to ‘hop on and off’ trains across Coventry, Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street. You will also be required to travel to Crew for 2 days (expenses paid for)
Working Pattern:
Shift patterns will be 30 hours a week over 7 days a week between 6.00am – 6.00pm, to be confirmed. One day a week (Tuesday) in college whilst on work experience.

Whilst on programme, candidates will receive a Virgin Trains Traineeship uniform (polo shirt), a train pass to allow travel on all trains and to assist in getting to and from the workplace, and food vouchers for lunches etc whilst on experience.

Main Responsibilites
Looking for a career that moves? The Virgin Trains Customer Experience Traineeship will get you on track. Virgin Trains and Solihull college are offering an exciting 13 week programme mixing work experience and qualifications with typical Virgin fun and flair. You’ll get nationally recognised qualifications in customer service, have great work experience with a world-renowned brand to add to your CV (along with top-notch customer relation skills), and on top of that, you’ll be added to the Virgin Trains talent pool, which makes talented people like you next in line for job openings.
The programme will consist of:
• 3 weeks training, based at Solihull College but includes 5 days at the Virgin Trains Talent Academy in Crewe
• 1 week job based mentoring
• 9 weeks work experience based at Birmingham International but covering Birmingham New Street, Coventry and Wolverhampton stations with a day a week (Tuesdays) in college throughout
• Qualifications to include a level 1 in customer service, level 1 in employability skills and functional skills in English and Maths
• Variety of Virgin Trains training including customer service, health & safety and many more
The general duties whilst on the traineeship will include:
• Assist with customer service activities, ensuring all customers are dealt with in Line with Virgin Trains Customer Experience requirements
• Assist in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment for both staff and customers at the station
• Adhere to security evacuation procedures in accordance with local emergency arrangements
• Pro-Actively seek out customers who need assistance on the station, guide them to their train, assist them on board and settle them in their seat.
• Welcoming and hosting the First Class Customers at the lounges.
• Offer a high standard of service in all aspects of this position.

To join the programme candidates must be aged 18-24 years old and not hold higher than a full level 2 qualification.
On successful completion candidates will be assessed to enter the Virgin Trains Talent Pool from which all full time positions are recruited, if recruited additional training can be offered through Solihull College.
The programme will run from:
6 October – 24 October – 3 weeks up front training at Solihull College (including 5 days in Crewe)
27 October – 2 November – 1 week on site mentoring with experienced staff
3 November – 2 January – work experience based from Birmingham international but working across Coventry, Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton
Days off for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
